The regional was hit by thunderstorms yesterday as unstable air was triggered by an approaching upper-level low-pressure system. And this morning, a line of thunderstorms handed by, related to the identical offshore low.
Importantly, many of the thunderstorms in our area happen over terrain, one thing steered by the map of lightning strikes on Thursday (proven under). You may see the north-south line of lightning strikes within the Cascades and the mass of strikes related to the Blue Mountains of northeast Oregon.
However why are the mountains favored places for the massive boomers?
I clarify within the podcast (which you’ll be able to entry under or by your favourite podcast service).
My podcast begins with the forecast….and for instance it’s on the soggy aspect. The primary week of June will likely be so moist that it is going to be soaked by the traditional rain that falls within the WHOLE of a typical month of June. The totals for the following week are startling (see under), with precipitation quantities that may be spectacular for November. Three to 5 inches on the western aspect of lots of our mountain areas. Substantial rain east of the Cascade crest!
