The Yoto Carnegies 2023 Shortlist


The Yoto Carnegies have a good time excellent achievement in youngsters’s writing and illustration and are distinctive in being judged by youngsters’s and youth librarians, with the respective Shadowers’ Selection Medals voted for by youngsters and younger individuals.

Matt and I’ve each been judges for the awards, many moons in the past, and it’s and terribly rigorous course of involving studying and re-reading dozens of books and forming correct arguments as to why issues must be shortlisted (or not…the truth is typically I used to be very keen about *not* letting one thing get additional…), judges can’t simply say “that is my favorite as a result of it’s cute”. So we love seeing the longlist after which shortlist announcement and imagining the conversations that went on for them to be the chosen few! I positively have favourites on this 12 months’s lists:

The 2023 Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing longlist is (alphabetical by creator surname):
