“How Was Your Day?” will seem on Donnelly’s Flood album with earlier outings “Flood” and “Lungs“, and lands with a video directed by Nick Mckk and Claire Giuffre.
“That is my try at constructing a tune out of a really particular dynamic between two monogamously concerned individuals,” Donnelly explains. “The verses are simply excerpts from actual conversations, fragments of what two individuals speak about after they each know they should have an actual speak however neither needs to be the one to deliver it up. This tune got here out of lockdown and seeing a variety of mates break up or get married.”
Flood will comply with Donnelly’s 2019 debut album Watch out for the Canine. She wrote the album with band members Jennifer Aslett, George Foster, Jack Gaby and Marcel Tussie, and co-produced the file with Anna Laverty and Methyl Ethyl’s Jake Webb.
A press launch states that Donnelly wrote 43 tracks for the brand new album whereas transferring round Australia. Whereas within the rainforests of Bellingen, Donnelly picked up birdwatching, and was “in a position to lose that feeling of anybody’s response to me. I forgot who I used to be as a musician, which was a humbling expertise of simply being; being my small self.”
