Sadiq Should Attend Police and Crime Committee… or Face Arrest
Sadiq Khan has been summonsed to the London Meeting Police and Crime Committee, to reply questions on the Winsor Overview. The report, revealed final month, investigated the circumstances round Cressida Dick’s sacking. It discovered Sadiq dedicated an “abuse of energy” and that the Met Commissioner had been “intimidated” and confronted “political strain“. Even worse for Sadiq, if he fails to attend the committee he might resist 3 months in jail.
Susan Corridor AM, Chairman of the Police and Crime Committee, added:
“The Sir Tom Winsor evaluate has raised essential questions concerning the circumstances beneath which the previous Metropolitan Police Commissioner stood down. The London Meeting Police and Crime Committee has statutory powers to summons the Mayor, which we have now used for the primary time right this moment. We consider that given the seriousness of the evaluate’s findings, the Mayor wants to deal with the unanswered questions which have emerged.”
