Premiere: Nowt – Polestar –

Chris Watson is a staple of the SE London music scene. When he’s not working behind the scenes at Peckham’s Rye Wax, or releasing gems on his West Buddies label, he’s making heady dance music alongside his fellow namesake Chris Coupe beneath the guise of FYI Chris. No stranger to exploring the huge realms of home music – simply peep his releases beneath the latter alias for the likes of Rhythm Part, Banoffee Pies and Eclipse Tribes – Watson now makes his first solo debut as Nowt.

A set of 4 tracks that contact on the types and traits heard in Watson’s collaborative work, Excessive Avenue – which finds its place on Will Hofbauer’s Third Place imprint – is a melange of bouncy drums, dreamy pads and twinkling melodies. Our decide, opener ‘Polestar’, has been getting a bit of affection over the previous few years already. Getting an unique play on Bradley Zero’s BBC Important Combine again in 2020, the monitor layers a hip-hop vocal pattern over drum breaks, lush pads and a heat bass groove.

Excessive Avenue drops on tenth June through Third Place.
