The Royal Faculty of Music has introduced two main new college appointments.
Clarinettist Marie Lloyd will succeed Simon Channing as Head of Woodwind and trumpeter Jason Evans will succeed Nigel Black as Head of Brass, with each taking over their new posts in September.
In demand as a visitor principal clarinet, Lloyd is on the Chamber Orchestra of Europe Academy Workers and frequently provides masterclasses and training periods all through the UK and abroad. On the RCM, she’s going to oversee greater than 120 college students starting from undergraduate to doctoral programmes.
Having been a professor of trumpet on the RCM since 2016, Evans – who’s Principal Trumpet of the Philharmonia Orchestra and has carried out as a soloist on the BBC Proms – will now take accountability for over 75 brass college students throughout all examine ranges.
Commenting on the brand new appointments, Professor Colin Lawson, Director of the Royal Faculty of Music, stated: ‘I’m delighted that Marie Lloyd and Jason Evans might be becoming a member of the RCM as Head of Woodwind and Head of Brass, respectively. Each have distinguished careers as performers and educators and can construct on the excellent legacies of their predecessors. We’re recognised internationally for our distinctive lecturers and college students and have little question that these phenomenal people will carry nice power and drive to assist our college students proceed to fulfil their potential.’
