Chilly air and gusty winds have surged southward into Washington State, with gentle snow over Northwest and Northeast Washington final evening.
Snow was noticed at Sequim Valley Airport northeast of the Olympics.
The snowfall totals, accessible from the cooperative CoCorahs community, confirmed a few 1/2 inch over the parts of the San Juans and 1-5 inches from Port Angeles to Sequim. There have been some flurries over Seattle final evening.
The chilly winds are howling out of the Fraser River valley this morning, with winds at Bellingham gusting to 35 mph (see beneath, black numbers are temperature, pink are gust speeds). This present of chilly, dry air is splitting across the Olympics and producing gusty northerly winds over Puget Sound and highly effective easterly winds within the Strait.
Because the Fraser River outflow is compelled upwards by the Olympics a band of precipitation (snow) is obvious on the radar (see instance round 7 AM this morning)
And let’s not neglect jap WA, with chilly, northerly winds, gusting to 25 mph, pushing southward out of BC by way of the Okanagon valley (see beneath)
This chilly wave is sort of a shock to the system.
It was lower than a month in the past (October 18th) after we virtually hit 90F (see plot). Through the previous few days, our most temperature is barely reaching the conventional low.
