Dan Shanahan is to set be part of the Laois senior hurling administration ticket headed by Tipperary’s Willie Maher. The previous Waterford hurler has simply introduced his retirement from membership hurling on the age of 45.
hanahan clocked up an unbelievable 30 seasons as a Lismore senior and was voted Hurler of the 12 months in 2007 when Waterford gained the Nationwide League and reached the All-Eire semi finals, the place they misplaced to Limerick.
He made his senior hurling debut for Lismore in 1993 and gained three All-Star awards with Waterford. After retiring from inter-county hurling he joined Derek McGrath’s administration staff in 2013.
Maher takes over Laois from Cheddar Plunkett, having beforehand managed Cuala. He led the Tipperary minors to the All-Eire title in 2012. The Ballingarry native labored with the Waterford hurlers as a selector in 2014. Extra not too long ago he has been managing Kilkenny’s Bennettsbridge.
As a participant he captained his county to an All-Eire minor title in 1996.
