A 16-year-old boy has died following an incident at a quarry in Wigan.
Police and emergency providers have been referred to as at round 9.40pm on Saturday to a report a boy had entered the water and received into issue at Dawber Delph, Appley Bridge.
Following a search, the boy was recovered from the water and he was pronounced lifeless on the scene.
It got here as temperatures soared to the excessive 20s amid a heatwave within the UK.
The boy’s subsequent of kin has been knowledgeable.
Lancashire Constabulary stated in a press release: “A boy has sadly died following an incident at a quarry.
“We have been referred to as by the Ambulance Service round 9.40pm yesterday (Saturday, 9 July) to a report a boy had entered the water and received into issue at Dawber Delph, Appley Bridge.
“Emergency providers attended the scene and following a search the physique of a 16-year-old boy was recovered from the water. He was sadly pronounced lifeless on the scene.
“His subsequent of kin have been knowledgeable and our ideas are with them at the moment.
“The demise will not be being handled as suspicious and a file might be handed to the coroner sooner or later.”
