Local weather tendencies within the Delaware Estuary and Basin replicate a mix of spiking temperatures, with a rising variety of 90-degree-plus days, rising and intensifying precipitation, and a fast rise in sea stage, a Penn State professor warned on Monday.
The professor, Raymond Najjar, supplied what he described as an “thrilling, daunting and sobering” evaluation of the consequences of local weather change on the basin.
Najjar, who’s a professor of Oceanography within the Division of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Pennsylvania State College, was the keynote speaker to kick off a three-day environmental convention exploring the well being and way forward for the estuary and basin.
The convention, the Delaware Estuary Science and Setting Summit, sponsored by the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, options 80 shows on a spread of subjects.
