Robbie has been studying The Realm by L. Marie Wooden.

Whereas I used to be attracted by the blurb for this e-book, I have to admit that the fact of it did moderately offend my Christian upbringing and perception system. I’m stating this upfront as a result of it is probably not an acceptable e-book for all readers.

The e-book opens with Patrick, a center aged man, dying. He’s conscious of his environment and his personal dying. He is aware of that what is occurring to him just isn’t consistent with his Christian concepts about demise and the afterlife. Patrick’s demise was sudden and violent and he’s rapidly expelled out of bodily life as he has recognized it, and into the afterlife.

Patrick finds himself in The Realm. A dreadful place that isn’t both Heaven or Hell nor even the Catholic Purgatory, however moderately a desolate and dreadful place for souls whom God has turned his again on. A spot, the place unprepared souls should spend all their time fleeing from the Hunters who feed on them, thereby turning them into monsters. There isn’t a escape from The Realm and no method of searching for salvation or redemption. The descriptions of the Hunters had been moderately consistent with my thought of a swamp creature or monster from a comic book and their ‘consuming’ of the damned souls was moderately unsophisticated and unimaginative for me.

When Patrick unravels the main points of his destiny and understands the curse that he has unknowingly handed on to all his future descendants, he’s compelled to discover a option to change the established order.

Patrick’s character is effectively drawn and his bewilderment and confusion on arriving in The Realm and unravelling its that means are realistically depicted and make for compelling studying. I did get pleasure from his guts and perseverance within the face of overwhelming difficulties. Patrick meets a variety of different characters who’re equally determined however much less worthy, given the benefit with which they succumb to successfully ‘making a cope with the Satan’ which on this case is the top of The Realm.

There have been a variety of editorial points with the model of the e-book I learn which had the impact of pulling me out of the story. This type of difficulty doesn’t hassle me whether it is occasional, however I did really feel your entire e-book wanted one other spherical of enhancing.

On the entire, for me, this story was mediocre compared to different horror tales I’ve learn and I did discover the depiction of a God who would flip his again on not solely a person, however his total future line, moderately unpalatable.

E book description:

Patrick thought he knew what awaited him within the afterlife. He’s studying the arduous method that he was lifeless fallacious. He’s hunted by a race of large beasts, the likes of which have by no means been seen by residing eyes, and he’s surrounded by the newly-dead from worlds past realizing. On this Realm, nothing and nobody may be trusted.

Patrick’s decisions will create echoes on the earth of the residing. He would be the key to salvation on this Hell generally known as The Realm, however it could come at the price of his household.

Together with his legacy on the road, can he make the precise selection?
