Secret of the Whispering Woods by Jordan Grey
My score: 4 of 5 stars
3.5 stars
Secret Of The Whispering Woods is a younger middle-grade or older youngsters’s fiction story with a powerful fairy story theme.
The story options magic and fairies, a royal prince and a depraved witch, all set in a faraway place. The creator has put his personal spin on conventional favourites and I believed that this story had echoes of Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Magnificence and Rapunzel.
Regardless of the enchanting land being ‘far, distant’, I did discover once in a while that the narrative slipped into modern American phrases and expressions with the odd phrase or flip of phrase which I felt detracted from the picture that the land was in a legendary place.
Aside from that, the story tripped alongside at a fantastic tempo offering the reader with a glittery, glowing, chocolate-box fashion story which many people count on from a contemporary fairy story.
