This final weekend in August? How rapidly the month has passed by. This week’s mixture of solar and just a little rain have introduced forth extra flowers.
Right now I watched a few bees 🐝 licking up the aphid honeydew on my tomato crops. I learnt one thing new about their behaviour; apparently the sticky aphid excretion will help them because it incorporates helpful carbohydrates.
Earlier within the week I noticed a big inexperienced and black Southern Hawker dragonfly darting throughout my wildlife pond. It was far too quick to get a photograph for somebody like me who struggles to get a single static flower in focus!
This yr I’ve grown some Cunning Combine foxgloves, the packet mentioned that they could flower within the first yr and right here they’re delighting the bumblebees. Thus far solely pink ones have opened, hopefully some totally different colors will even present.
Second picture goes to this pleasant purple dahlia the swirl of the petals appear to be fondant icing to me and nearly ok to eat!
Third picture, is of one other Gladioli, they’ve completed so effectively this yr that they deserve an image.
Image 4 are of some pom-pom dahlias that are placing on present.
Whereas picture 5 was a little bit of a shock as I’ve mislaid the labels to my bulbs. Google lens tells me that is an Abyssinian Gladiolus, it has produced a number of flowers and I noticed one other one about to bloom in a unique a part of the backyard.
Ultimate picture (sure it’s out of focus, as talked about above😏) of the primary of my Japanese Anemones.
