Final week was superb with Sunday topping it off with a stunning day. We then usually plunged again into cool, frosty mornings, sharp winds
and extra rain.
Sarah from South Australia commented in her #SoS put up final week that they’d had the driest summer time in 33 years. I joked that we had stolen all of their rain
right here within the UK. We’ve had, in my patch in Southern England, virtually 70cm/ 700mm of rainfall since September.
So what’s flowering within the backyard this week?
The Primroses are blooming properly with a number of patches trying fairly settled now after a number of years. Subsequent I noticed this very peak coordinated patch of Tete-a-Tete Daffodils, the second in from the left seems to be like it’s giving order to the rabble in preparation for the picture. Thirdly is the Pulmonaria. I’ve simply learnt that’s is from the Lungwort household. I do just like the ‘wort’ names for crops, there’s simply one thing a few wort that feels very ‘hedgerow’.
Up subsequent is a good patch of purple Polyanthus, adopted carefully by the primary of the surface Hyacinths. Lastly my Hellebore are blooming. Final summer time I transplanted a number of of the younger crops that had self grown from this guardian and I’m comfortable to report that almost all of them have taken properly to their new houses.
